Whether you are a Cow Peh, or Cow Bu, it is still a cow.

The Farmer will die one day, the farm may not last forever, the farmer need a succession plan or let the cows die of natural death and the farm close shop.

When the Farmer gets older and with the dawning of new technology, does the cow still have to drink from the pound?

The cows are now being massaged to provide better beef, no more roaming around in the field.

As we move along, or rather the cow moves along, new technology and methods will be developed to make it more productive.

Defence spending is a necessary evil to serve as a deterrence to our perceived enemies. However, to continuously increase our annual defence expenditure is something that Singaporeans have to ponder over and question.

After many years of increased spendings on upgradings, acquisitions of modern weapons and technology, there has to be a stage of maintaining the current status rather than continue splurging on excessive procurements.

It is an established fact that high tech weapons are not sold on affordability alone. Much political patronage has to be entertained which gives rise to corruption tendencies.

Military equipments are unlike others, for there is no standard retail prices.

#ohmyohmy

I have to be fair to state the the Dynamic Guaranteed Fund was presented to be an excellent product via SGAM.

SGAM has convinced us of the product feature which is really exceptionally good and no reason not to invest.

But the guarantee has a high price to pay, and SGAM did not manage and invest the way it was presented.

Mr Tan Kin Lian, then realised what SGAM has done and did not deliver what she promise to do , when it was presented as a very dynamic fund.

As it is a closed end fund, policyholder will have to hold until maturity or risk a penalty.

Mr Tan has allowed policyholder a choice to re-invest to the Combined Fund without charges. This is a very generous offer then.

Those who have switched are quite happy as the yield is more than 30% after switching, and could be more today and forward.

I have to write this to be fair to Mr Tan as regard to the Dynamnic Guaranteed Fund, managed by SGAM.

Avoid guaranteed fund, I believe many similar guaranteed funds matured below value.

I feel one of the most pertinent issue today is the creation of a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). This will allow for laymen like us to request for information from government agencies that should be available freely, save for time-sensitive documents related to intelligence or military activities.

An independant ombudsman should operate this on a philosophy of all information is free for distribution unless flagged otherwise, and the respective agency or ministry that flags otherwise has to submit a reason for such an injunction to the respective applicant.

We can look at the United States' methodology of releasing government documents for a good guideline and balance between government-citizen transparency and issues regarding information vital to national security.

Hey guys, stop bluffing ourselves, we have been fooled again and again without even knowing it.

The oil companies are making 200% from the consumers and they keep upping the pump prices just to upkeep their lavish lifestyle.

We peasants are always the ones who are made to pay for the elitists' luxuries in life - it is a simple MLM concept. The masses supporting the few fat-arses at the top.

I think universal suffrage (here) should stay at 21 years of age. To be more specific, I think that voting rights should be given on to those who have an interest in voting, home-ownership and employment being two.

I mean, even at the age of 21 if I had been forced to vote I might just have drawn a rude picture on the card instead, that is, if I believed I could have gotten away with it.

Back to the point about those 'interested' in voting, material and non-material interests including. It is important I think that voting rights are given to those who WANT to vote, not to those who are uninterested in and disapprove of politicians (in ruling and opposition parties), even if there are those who are capable or even good.
